WHO WE ARE

HOWAG LTD is a company with international experience and know-how in the cable assembly industry.  It was founded in Targovishte, Bulgaria in 2014 as a daughter company to Howag Kabel AG – Switzerland.

Howag LTD – Bulgaria recognizes its employees as the driving force behind all processes in the company and is keen on providing them with favourable conditions for work and professional growth: “every machine is as good as its operator”.

The company has successful business with both foreign and Bulgarian companies. Many of Howag’s customers operate on the Swiss market. The product- and service-quality is top priority, and it is the underlying principle on which the company policy is based.

For its partners, Howag provides a vast range of cable solutions:

    • Cable assemblies and cable sets
    • Drag chains (energy cable chains)
    • Electrical control cabinets
    • Patch-cables
    • Spiral cables
    • Sub-assemblies
    • Always open to new projects and developments

The articles are manufactured according to customer specifications, with strict adherence to the required functionality as set by the customer. The cable articles produced by Howag  are used in industrial machines, robotic work-centers, agricultural machines, electrical vehicles, medical equipment, computer networks, safety systems, etc.

The company makes regular investments in new equipment. The machine park consists of machines for cutting, stripping, moulding, thermal processing and others, as well as complex work-centers capable of performing several operations at the same time. In order to achieve higher added value for its partners, the company invests in perfecting its ERP system and improving the flow of materials.

Since the very beginning, Howag LTD – Bulgaria is a member of the Bulgarian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce, and it is proud to have hosted the Annual Partnership Forum of the chamber. As of 2024 Howag is also a regional representative for “BASEL” – the Bulgarian Association of Electrical Engineering and Electronics.

„Howag” Ltd. is executing a contract under a EU Operative program „Innovations and competitiveness 2014-2020“.

„Howag” Ltd. is executing a contract according to a Procedure for financial aid BG-RRP-3.004 „Technological modernization“ under the Program for economical transformation which is part of the National plan for recovery and sustainability, co-financed by the European union through the European fund for regional development.

Modern, spacious, perfect: HOWAG Kabel AG relocates!
After more than 70 years in Wohlen, HOWAG moves its registered headquarters to a new location with advanced infrastructure. With more space, we are now in a position to expand and modernize our machinery.

2005


HOWAG switches to lead-free soft-soldering and tinning to comply with the RoHS Directive. In close cooperation with our suppliers, all our products are manufactured to comply with the RoHS Directive.

1995


HOWAG splits into HOWAG Kabel AG and HOWAG Kunststoffe AG.

1992


Change of ownership: the Greutert family takes over the business from the Breitschmids.

1956


Start of plastic extrusion. HOWAG is Europe’s leading manufacturer of telephone connection cables.

Development of the ETIRO® cable by Mr. Hollenweger.
This is a patented spiral cable in which additional nylon fibres were incorporated in order to strengthen the reset force.

Participation in Swiss National Exhibition (Expo) in Zurich

1936


Construction of and moving into our first building.
At that time, HOWAG had no neighbours but over time, the community of Wohlen has expanded around our company’s premises.
