Handling of cables is not that easy – everyone who has ever worked with cables already knows this. As a cable company with a broad range of cable products, Howag has a lot of cable-handling to do on a daily basis.
While there are some good machine solutions on the market for fast and reliable cable processing, sometimes there are no ready solutions matching Howag’s specific needs. In such situations the solution lies in creativity and innovative force.
Under the supervision of our Production Manager, Mr. Asen Asenov, Howag’s team recently came up with one such custom solution. Instead of bringing cable reels (of various shape and size) to the machines, the team decided that the machines could go to the reels.
Yes, great idea, but how can it be implemented?
The Howag responsible for Maintenance & Repair, Mr. Ivaylo Vrachaliyski, together with the Maintenance Specialist, Mr. Boncho Krastev, developed an unconventional solution allowing the cable-cutting machine to go to the cable reels (and not the other way around, as it is often done).
Production organizer, Mrs. Kremena Ivanova, and Cutting Specialist, Mr. Dragomir Lozhanov, commented: “We are very happy with the new solution. It will help us to be a lot more productive and will require less physical work to move around all those heavy cable-reels.”
Howag are cable specialists – we prove this every day to our customers. But also, as this good example shows, we are able to design, build and program custom solutions such as our cable-feeding system.
The new system has been in operation since April 2024 with no faults.
